The Central Committee releases a statement in solidarity with Linksjugend.
At their recent Federal Congress, the 12,000 strong youth wing of Die Linke, “Linksjugend [‘solid]” adopted a motion titled “We Must Never Again Remain Silent in the Face of a Genocide”. This motion, which was explicitly anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian liberation, is a huge step forward in the struggle against the German state. Historically, the German left has been soft on Zionism. We celebrate this wholesale rejection of that softness.
We stand in solidarity with Linksjugend and condemn the assaults directed against our comrades by Germany’s capitalist media. Those in the Die Linke leadership who have criticised this motion are scabs acting in the interests of the German state. For two years, any organisation not backing the genocide of Palestinians has been accused of antisemitism. Now that young people are raising their voices in opposition, the German state has launched every attack they can against them.
This betrayal of the international working class by this leadership in Germany is an example of why workers need an independent party. We cannot have unity with those who will use the capitalist state and media to further their own ends. Workers must decide on their own politics for themselves using democratic processes. We are sick of the capitalists deciding our politics for us! We are sick of bigotry and dogmatism in our movement! This is why the Revolutionary Communist Organisation fights for a mass communist party, no more broad fronts and no more dogmatic sects.
In Solidarity,
The Revolutionary Communist Organisation
