Students and supporters from the UoN Students for Palestine group disrupted the Engineering and Built Environment Expo at the University of Newcastle (UoN), hosted on March 18th 2025.
Activists cited the inclusion of corporations from the Military-Industrial Complex, such as BAE Systems, supplying the Israeli and American imperialist war machine abroad. The UoN Students for Palestine group had also protested UoN’s ties to Lockheed Martin during their encampment in 2024.
Anti-militarist slogans were raised during the action, though activists were swiftly escorted out of the expo by campus security. The disruption of the expo is this year’s first major action by the UoN Students for Palestine group, which recently reconstituted after what seemed to be a hiatus after the encampment was broken up by campus security in late 2024.
